The Dufry Ladies Open Attracts The Big Names

Hyeonji Kang representing the Emirates Golf Club was crowned the 10th Dufry Ladies Open Golf Champion after shooting gross 73, one over Par. Hyeonji separated herself from the day’s field by an impressive three shots, with the closest competitor being Sakura Kawakami on 76, six over par.
Hyeonji who was one of the hot favorite going into the tournament had a roller-coaster round. Hyeonji started with a disappointing bogey on the first hole but bounced back strongly with a birdy on the tricky 2nd hole, she continued to roll in the birdies as she recorded a further two on the 5th & 6th holes, putting her on a convincing 2 under par for the first six holes. In a twist of form to close out the back nine, she recorded two bogies. A downward spiral which would continue into the back nine, with further dropped shots on the 11th & a double bogey on the par three, 12th hole. A run which would leave her three over par with a remaining six holes. In true champion style, Hyeonji dug deep over the remaining holes, narrowly missing out on a birdie on the par five 13th hole & recording birdies on the 14th & 17th hole to finish strong & take the title on a score of 73, one over par. As well as the 2018 title Hyeonji has also claimed her place in the 2018 Sharjah Senior Golf Masters Presented by Shurooq Pro-am on Wednesday the 7th March, we wish her the best of luck in the event & are she will pick up some invaluable advice from the masters of the game.
Sakura Kawakami representing Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club collected the second place prize in the Championship as she recorded a score of 76. A single shot better than third place Zenia Wivou from Tower Links Golf club who posted 77 to beat off competition for the third place from Kellie Gachaga as she recorded a score of 78 to take home the fourth-place trophy in the Gross Division.
The Net Division was dominated by Snigdha Goswami representing The Els Club as she posted an impressive net score 64, eight under par to take the Division B title. Her round consisted of several bogies but was inundated with eight net birdies & two net eagles over the 18 hole Championship. The Division B runner-up spot was taken by Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club rising star Jamie Camero as she posted a net 69, three under par. In Division A the title went to Tatyana Mogire from the Emirates Golf Club on a score of 76, with second place in the Division going to Ailsa Brannock from Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club.
Fahim Shaikh, Operations General Manager – Middle East & India of Dufry was on hand at the Prize Presentation in their 9th Year on board as sponsors and awarded each player with their prizes.
