Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club hosted the 10th Ramadan Open supported by Hacker Kitchens on Saturday the 18th of May. A record field of forty plus all played in the fun format of one man shambles and try stake their claim in being this years champion.
Each player got to hit two tee shots on every hole and selected their desired ball and play out the hole from there. The field got blown away by a quite sensational score of forty six stableford points from SGSC member Boungwon You. Mr You used the format excellently as he carded seven net birdies and two net eagles to post a score that could not be beat. Quite remarkably Mr Yous playing partner Ki Cha Nam had a score of forty five points and on any other day this would almost certainly be enough for top spot but Mr Ki Cha Nam had to settle for runner up. The unofficial handicap division was won by Lee Nellis with a score of forty one points also with seven net birdies. A score of thirty eight points was enough to see David Murphy top Division A while past captain Vivian Verma topped division B with forty points.
Best Gross went to SGSC Director of Golf Martin Duff with a solid score of thirty six including just two bogeys. Thirty six points was a popular number in the gross division as Martin narrowly pipped Samuel McLaren and Tirtha Poudel on countback.
The players all embraced the new format of a one man shambles as Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club continues to keep formats fresh and creative and offer an alternative to your standard event.
