SON SHOWS STEEL FOR ORIENT TRAVEL – THAI TOURISM SUCCESS

Veteran Sung Soon Son underlined his recent return to form by claiming the July edition of the Orient Travel – Tourism of Authority of Thailand Monthly Stableford held recently at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club. Having spent recent years hampered by injury the Korean, who was formerly one of the UAE’s leading amateurs, is now fully fit having added 20 to 30 yards to his drives enabling him to once again compete with his younger counterparts. Son’s gross 74 converted to 39 net Stableford points seeing of 25 year old Chinese scratch golfer Zi Hau Su who posted 34 points. Gary Langthorne (14 – 33), No Ma Yeou (6 – 32), William Ang (1 – 32) and Rajesh Chitti (13 – 32) completed the days rostrum of prizes.
Running parallel to the 4 summer Orient Travel – Tourism of Authority of Thailand Monthly Stableford events is the Order of Merit with the 2 leading net and 1 leading gross scores representing Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club in the RAK Challenge Tour Pro Am event on Wednesday 13st of October. Ben Mulvarney leads both net and gross categories virtue of his first round 36 gross, 41 net Stableford points. Son’s 39 points puts him in second place net with Zi Hau Su’s round 2, 74 gross giving him the gross space by default.
