Overview
At Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club guests are as welcome as members, and beginners as welcome as experienced players.
Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club boasts a 9 hole, fully floodlit golf course which enables play well into the evening. Designed by internationally acclaimed architect Peter Harradine, if played twice, this wall to wall grass oasis will provide a par 72 layout that stretches in excess of the 7,300 yard mark. Described as a pleasure to play but a challenge to par, the course features between 5 and 7 different tees on every hole, vast water features, generous fairways, large and challenging bunkers and unique undulations; all of which ensure this golfing paradise offers a fair but tough test to every level of golfer and one you will relish time and time again.

SGSC SPECTATOR POLICY
SGSC does permit spectators at any time (walking and entirely at own risk), but does not permit additional golf carts for spectators. If there is a spare seat on a cart (I.e. with a 1 or 3 ball) the spare seat may be used by spectators but the applicable cart fee must be paid (see below furthered explanation). It is advisable to inform Golf Reservations upon booking if spectators are anticipated.
Members and paying golfers take priority over spectators at all times.
Brief explanation:
All around the world cart rental is generally for the whole cart, not the seat (approx AED 150). Here in the UAE, to the significant overall benefit of golfers, carts are charged per seat (AED 80).
Therefore if the second seat is required (even by a non golfer) we require payment.
Explanation in detail:
As outlined above, most countries around the world charge a lump sum for the hire of a golf cart. If a single player – they bear the full cost. If a pair – they can split the cost. Here in the UAE cart pricing works hugely in favour of the golfer as they are only charged for each seat used. This is due to the climate being too extreme to walk for 5 or 6 months of the year (certainly through the middle of the day). Consequently if the second seat is being used (for any purpose) a charge is required.Secondly – with the UAE being in a dry and barren landscape the green golf course environment is attractive, even to none golfers. If we permitted spectators to accompany players for free (and provided a cart) the course would be overrun by none paying guests. This in turn places higher demand on the golf carts (of which we have a limited number) and can result in significant additional wear and tear (particularly in the cooler months (Nov – Mar).

Mukti Sangpang Rai (Nepal Men's Captain | 2017 - 2018)
I arrived to Dubai on 1987, and start working with a Shipping Company. I currently work with Acer Computer nearly for 20 years. My Golf game was inspired by a gentleman name Joseph Tsai Hon, Counsel General of Taiwan in late 80s. I used to play on the desert course at Jebel Ali very often, which made me fearless to hit out of a bunker at any time.
I am married to Polly Rai, who doesn’t play golf but is a true supporter of my game. We have a daughter, Mona Rai and a Son, Aswin Rai.
Apart from the work, family, friends rest of my time goes to Golf. I have very strong support from my family therefore, I believe I am confident in myself to play quite stable Golf and able to maintain single digit handicap.

Sanjoy Das (India | Men's Vice Captain)
I was born & raised in a middle class family in Kolkata, India. My father had played first class cricket for Bengal & there always was a sporting tradition in the family. Completed my graduation from St Xaviers college in Kolkata and started working in the logistics industry back in early eighties.
Moved to Dubai in 1986 & got married in 1988. My wife Mita & me have two sons Siddhartha & Aditya both born & raised in Dubai. Started playing golf in mid-nineties in Nad al Sheba club [ very fond memories]
Moved to UK between 2007 to 2012 for my previous employer & it was an enjoyable experience both professionally & culturally. Came back to Dubai in 2012 and started my own business in logistics. Became a member of SGSC in 2013 and since then made so many wonderful friends and very proud to be a part of this club till today.

Testimonials

I would just like to congratulate you for the organization of such a great event The Sharjah Golf Senior Masters.
Arab_Joe
I played Sharjah yesterday morning, in conditions that were more like my native Scotland than my adopted UAE. However, the course stood up to the wind, rain and darkness (the floodlights were switched on for the first few holes) and in the end the round was absolutely fantastic. Relative to the incredibly over-priced golf courses elsewhere in the UAE, Sharjah is very reasonable. Greens and tees are in great condition, with no bear patches at all. Fairways are lush, again no sand showing through. Holes are varied, interesting and, especially towards the end of the 9, very testing. If you don’t object to playing a 9 hole course twice, then this is well worth the 20-25 minutes it takes to get to the course from Dubai.
Kwangjae Lee
It’s nice place to play golf for salary man or woman.

Chris Alderman
Great staff, great test of golf, 9 holes and always in good condition
Jalal Abbasi
One of the best golf courses in UAE
Ashley Normansell
9 hole golf course. Very mature. Wide fairways make for enjoyable tees but plenty water and long holes to make it challenging as well.
Best value course in UAE.
Susie Cottam
Well maintained challenging course
A Khan
The Golf range is very relaxing , one of the few places in UAE where is can hit on real grass and also great staff.
Andrew Curtis
The Golf club is the best value 9 holes in the UAE. The Twilight hour discount rate is excellent and the course is in great condition. Don’t be put of by the drive from Dubai, it’s really not that bad. Course is challenging, greens you feel you can attack and pin positions are often in great spots. Changes room could do with a little modernizing and a clock on the driving range would be a great addition.
Won Beom Kim
It’s 9 holes, but the price is cheap and the booking is relatively easy. There is also a long and difficult place where you can have a fun round.
Brijan34
“This is a well kept course, not too difficult but testing never the less. There is plenty of water to negotiate but can be bypassed. Need to book in advance, clubs are picked up as you enter the complex and after booking in your buggy is awaiting you with your clubs on board. Reasonable driving range, plenty of golf balls. Marshall tees you off and on completion of round nice club house to enjoy.. You leave your clubs in the buggy and pick them up as you leave the club where you dropped them off. They will have all been cleaned.”
Gureni L.
“Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club is a great facility with lots and lots of things to do for the whole family. My daughter enjoyed learning to play golf but there are many other things to do, shooting range, paintball, places to eat and party halls for all kinds of parties. There are also great gardens where you can just sit and relax. It’s a wonderful place.”

The golf reservation staff and marshals are awesome. They know members by name and if you play regular, they know your golfing partners too. They offer excellent service and are always friendly. The golf team never shy away from doing what they can to make your day of golfing as enjoyable as it can possibly be. This takes some doing as the 9-hole course can be very busy, but the marshals manage it well. Overall, an excellent club to be a member of.

“Great well maintained, mature and challenging course”.
