Back 9 winners were Aadil Khan & Haneef Rabbani with a blistering score of 38 points unfortunately after a poor front 9 otherwise they certainly would have been challenging for top spot.

Winning on the day means that Ramli Sulaiman & Jumadi Husani (Prime Express International Couriers LLC) have claimed a spot in the UAE World Golf Championship which is something they’re both excited to be involved in. Runners up on the day were Hanief Sallie & Sami Butt (Teleperformance) who were agonisingly just one shot a drift from gaining a spot in this great event. Third place went to the pairing of Jeff Glasgow & Mihail Bucataru (Skate Mobility) who also produced some great golf in what turned out to be very high standard event.

KIM AND PARK VICTORIOUS IN BMW OPEN

Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club members Yound Duk Kim and Jong Sung Park produced a comanding performannce to win the BMW Open Social with an impressive total of net 65.

The winning pair produced a front 9 Betterball total of 32, despite a bogey on the first hole, and a back 9 Scramble score of 33 to claim victory and earned them a trophy and AED 175 Pro Shop voucher.  This pipped only by virtue of a better 2nd 9 the pairing of Captain Mukti Rai and Vice Captain Sanjoy Das as they too had a total of 35 points (AED 125).

The 9 hole awards, the front 9 was won by  the duo of Roy Holmes and Ben Mulvaney with a score of 33 points. The back 9 prize went to Vivian Verma and Arun Tuli also with a total of 33 stableford points.  Both pairs won Pro Shop vouchers for AED 100 for their achievements.

Thanks to everyone who has supported the series, the final prize was nearest to the pin which was won by Mike a professional from DXB who hit a lovely shot on the 17th to claim  his (AED 75) Pro Shop vouchers.

The fifth & final Round of the Winter/Spring BMW X5 Series Open Social was hosted on the 11thMay 2018.  To determine the winners for the month of March & round 5 of the BMW X5 Series MVP awards the competitors had to concur a Betterball format for the front nine and a Shambles betterball format on the back nine.

Friday’s round saw the conclusion of the MVP – BMW X5 Series, Winter Spring. At the start of the day a host of players were in with a chance of taking the title. Taking the format prizes for the day & adding to their MVP totals were Mel Stewart & Martin Graham as they collected the prize for best front nine score, posting an impressive five under par, 31. Mel’s additional points in the MVP moving him just shy of the top ten placing in the league. Taking the back nine format, also on a score of five under, 31 were Ramesh Wijeratne & Neil Wijeratne.

The main prize positioning of the day saw an incredible battle at the top of the MVP league standing as the top players all fought to top the table. Taking third place on the day was a relatively new pairing of Roger Ledeboer & Namir Al Naimi. The additional MVP points for Namir were crucial, enabling him to close the gap at the top of the league standing. Unfortunately for Namir on this occasion he would come up just three points short of Vivan Verma. Despite Vivian not adding to his point’s total in the May fixture he held on to second place in the MVP standing & collected himself a 300 AED Pro-shop voucher.  Collecting the MVP Champions title for the Winter/Spring series was Adhip Shankar as he collected almost top points in the May addition, combining forces with Suresh Shewakramani to post a score of 62, ten under par to secure second place over the day’s field. Winning over all in the May addition was the dream combination of Clive Piper & Andrew Thom. The duo had an unsurmountable medal score of 61, eleven under par. The two added to their MVP points total, pushing themselves just outside the top five for the series.

The pair of Tristan Webster and Mike Robson won the June edition of The BMW Open Social and second qualifier in the X5 series held at Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club.

The pairs net 63, after 9’s of 31 (Shambles) and 32 (Scramble), produced a one shot winning margin under a new combination of formats.   Runners up were regular contenders Rory Thomson and Brian Williams (64) who left themselves just too much to do after their front 9 of 33. Former Captain Vivian Verma and SGSC Golf Professional Tirtha Poudel took the front 9 prize (net 32) with Sanjoy Das and A. E. Ravi taking the back 9 (net 33).

These round 2 results mean Webster and Robson more into an 5 way share of the X5 series MVP awards on 20 points alongside round 1 winners Clive Piper and Andy Thom.  Adip Shankar makes up the quintet having a podium finish and a novelty prize to his name.  Another 9 players are within 7 points of the lead in what promises to be one of the tightest and most exciting X5 series’ to date.  The 3rd of the 5 qualifiers is on Friday 13th July.

Long-term Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club members Hassan Yazdi and Roy Holmes produced a commanding performance to win the April BMW Open Social with a Stella total of net 62.

The winning pair produced a front 9 Betterball total of 32, despite a double bogey on the second hole, and a back 9 Scramble score of 30 to reach their winning mark which earned them a trophy, AED 200 Pro Shop voucher and 20 X 5 series MVP points each.  This pipped the Asian pairing of David Yeo and Ashley Kok into second place (AED 150 each) on 63 beating Brit’s Phil Arnold and Jonathan Underhill (AED 100 each) by virtue of a better 2nd 9.

The 9 hole awards ironically went to 2 pairings who finished well down the overall placings, both only producing only one good 9 hole total. Ramesh and Neil Wijeratne took the best Betterball score (30) and Ramli Sulaiman and Jumadi Husani recovering from a poor front 9 to recorded a 30 on the pairs Scramble format.  Both pairs won Pro Shop vouchers for AED 100 and 9 MVP points each for their achievements.
