SGSCs First ever Club Captain rolls back the years to claim the 10th SGSC Senior Open

Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club hosted its 10th Senior Open Golf Championship on Sunday the 5th of March. A strong field of players from all over the UAE battled it out to be this years champion. It was SGSCs first ever club captain and Mr Mel Stewart who rolled back the years and claimed the title. Mel had three net birdies and a bucket load of pars for a very solid score of thirty five stableford points to claim the title only via virtue of a countback. Mel was the first ever club captain back in 2012/13 and was delighted to walk home with the title. Runner up was another past club captain Mukti Rai also on a score of thirty five points and unfortunately for Mukti he lost out on countback. Third place also posting thirty five points which proved to be a very popular number was SGSC Vice-Captain Abdul Moiz Khan, Abdul was delighted with his performance and happy to go home with third place.

In the super senior division for golfers aged 60+ it was Russell Yeomans who went home with the trophy, Russell had a very solid round of golf to post thirty three stableford points. Russel pipped SGSC Captain Ravi AE only on countback, Ravi took home the spoils as runner up in the Super Seniors Division.

The gross division was won by Mark McNeilly who had a really steady round of golf posting a gross score of thirty one points to be the SGSC 10th Seniors Open Gross Champion.

The event was played in great spirit throughout the day and the field from all across the UAE further afield were full of praise for a golf course that is in fantastic condition.
