POUDEL PRODUCES FINAL WEEK FIREWORKS TO TAKE GOLF WORLD TITLE

Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club Golf Professional Tirtha Poudel produced an exhilarating final weeks golf to take the 5th Golf World Ramadan Stableford Series held at SGSC.
The Nepalese hadn’t featured on the leaderboard at all in the opening 3 weeks but finally recorded a best 5 scores (from 13 scores returned) of -2, -1, -3, -3 and -2 for 101 combined Stableford points to take the title by 2 points from nearest challenger Weijan Xu (99 points – Titleist 917 fairway wood). Third place went to week 3 leader Jirong Liu (96 points – Vokey Wedge) who pipped early pace setter Rashed Al Jarwan by virtue of a countback (via best single score).
Poudel commented “I played really well in the final week with my 21 and 20 point returns leapfrogging me into the lead. It’s been a great event inspiring us all to play as often as possible in order to better our scores and I’m delighted to have won a Titleist 917 driver thanks to sponsors Golf World”.
Golf World General Manager Geoff Hunter added at the presentation “This year’s event has set new records with 282 scores being recorded over the 21 days of competition (throughout Ramadan). This eclipses the previous best of 260 score set back in 2014. We’d like to thank everyone for their support of the event and of course congratulate Tirtha, Weijan and Jirong on such fine efforts”.
