Golf Society League hotting up after round three

Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club were once again extremely pleased to welcome back a strong contingent of golf societies all vying to become the 2019-2020 Golf Society League Champions. Twelve societies from all over the UAE descended on SGSC for the second round. The twelve societies have been split into two leagues with top four in each league moving into the knock out stages.

BMW LEAGUE

In the BMW league there was shock in the first match of the day with defending champions Filipino Golfers in the Middle East losing both matches to the inform White Rose Golf Society. White Rose deserved the win and it was needed it catapults them up the league into third place. Kegs 1 maintained their fine form from the last set of matches once again winning both their matches and collecting twelve points out of a possible twelve in the last two outings. Kegs 1 this time around overcame the challenge of Construction Executive Golf Society. Third and final match in this league saw top of the table Angry Birdies play bottom of the table Gulf Rock and despite the league positions the match couldn’t have been closer as both societies won a game each adding three points to their league total.

WORLDWIDE GOLF LEAGUE

The first match in the Worldwide Golf League saw our new society to the GSL GEMS International School School Staff again dominate their opposition. Despite a noble challenge from International Golf Society GEMS were too hot to handle and claimed all six points to remain top of the league. Happy Hookers also saw of the challenge of Sports to business claiming the full six points on offer. Finally the GTI Golf Society who have arguably produced the golf of the day brushed aside the society of Kegs 2 to put them in a very nice position in the Worldwide Golf League.

With a few surprise results in game week three the leagues couldn’t be closer and we are all very excited to see the outcome of the 11th Golf Society League.

As well as the matches, competitors had a chance to win day prizes for best betterball stableford score. Congratulations to Andrew Thom & Clive Piper (GTI GS) on their win in the Day’s prizes from the 14th of December 2019. They both won 200AED pro shop vouchers for their efforts.
