The Westford Sharjah Cup, one of the major events at Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club, returned on Sunday, February 2nd, with an exciting and memorable day for all involved. Participants competed for the fantastic prizes generously provided by Westford University College. In the end, SGSC member Gaurav Ajmani emerged as the champion, earning a spot on the honours board with an outstanding performance.
A strong field of competitors took on the challenge of 36 holes on a course in impeccable condition. Gaurav’s impressive performance began with a fantastic score of 42 points in the morning round, and he replicated this in the afternoon, posting another 42 points. His total of 84 points was made up of 12 net birdies and 4 net eagles, securing him his biggest win to date. Gaurav expressed his delight in winning and thanked all the competitors, as well as Westford University College for their support in making the event such a success.
Junior member Dehan Ungerer made a strong impression, securing the runner-up spot with a brilliant two-round total of 82 points, while defending champion Shab Khan took third place with a score of 75 points.
In the Gross division, SGSC’s low handicapper Sami Butt continued his fine form, winning with an impressive 65 points, just three points ahead of Gary Williams, who claimed the runner-up position.
Prizes were also awarded for the best afternoon scores. Vikar Mustafa posted a brilliant 41 points to claim the net prize, while Namir Al Naimis earned the gross prize with a solid score of 30.
As always, the event was played in a spirit of healthy competition, with participants praising both the challenging course and the generous support from Westford University College. It was another fantastic day at the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club
