Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club hosted the season-ending Air Arabia Matchplay Awards on Sunday, May 18th, honouring the top performers of the 2024/2025 season across both gross and net divisions. Trophies were awarded to champions, runners-up, and third-place finishers in recognition of a highly competitive and well-contested series.
In the gross singles category, Josh Vardy claimed the title of 2024/2025 Gross Singles Champion following a season of consistently strong performances. Guillermo Gallego finished as runner-up in the singles but also secured the Gross Doubles Championship alongside partner Carlos Garcia, showcasing his all-round game throughout the year. Namir Al Naimi and Sammi Butt narrowly missed out on the doubles title, finishing as runners-up after a strong campaign.
In the net division, Oguz Yuce emerged as the Net Singles Champion, capping off a standout season. He was followed by Humayun Kaleem in second place, while Mukti Rai secured a commendable third-place finish. In the Net Doubles category, Aamir Inam and Vikar Mustafa took the top spot, defeating Gaurav Ajmani and Rajesh Pareek in a closely contested final. Ajmani and Pareek earned the runner-up honours.
All winners and runners-up were presented with trophies and return tickets to one of Air Arabia’s 70+ international destinations. The awards were handed out by SGSC Golf Club Captain Shaheen Butt and Lijo Jode, Air Arabia Account Manager – Sharjah & Ajman.
Director of Golf Sam McLaren expressed his appreciation to Air Arabia, a founding sponsor of the event, for their continued and unwavering support over the years. Their partnership has played a key role in the success and growth of the Matchplay Series.
Throughout the season, matches were marked by a high level of competition and sportsmanship, with several ties decided on the final hole. The event once again highlighted the strong community spirit and passion for the game among SGSC members.
