DAVID MURPHY NOW A MAJOR CHAMPION ⛳?️️?

David Murphy was delighted to be crowned winner of the very popular Westford Sharjah Cup. A brilliant day of golf saw the SGSC member finally got his name up on the honors board by winning this great event. A strong field all competed thirty six holes in what was a brilliant day for golf on a course that is in superb condition. After the morning round it was new member Phil Jones who was top of the pile on thirty five points. Unfortunately for Phil he fell away slightly in the second round but the low handicapper still went home with the prize of best gross in the morning round. Eventual champion David had a solid first round of thirty four and was nicely placed just one shot back with fellow SGSC member Fatih Bozkurt. The second round lit up with some fantastic scores all throughout the field, but David managed to hold off the challenge of Ravi AE and Max Hibbert who both shot up the leaderboard with great scores. Max posted a brilliant round of thirty six in the afternoon but the youngster had to settle for third place just one point short of catching David on a total of sixty seven points. On the same total as Max also just one shot back was Ravi AE who has played some great golf this season and a second round of thirty seven again just fell one point short of top spot. Ravi claimed runner up spot for his efforts.

David played very solid all day and picked up eight net birdies and two net eagles over the thirty six holes which is great golf and a worthy champion. David who has recently had a golf lesson that appears to be paying off had a total of sixty eight points on the day and won by a single point. Also picking up prizes for their efforts on the day were Fatih Bozkurt who won best net round one with a thirty four and Mohan GC who posted best round of the day to win best second round with thirty eight stableford points.

In the Gross division it was a similar face on the stage, SGSC low handicapper Namir Al Naimi who struggled in the morning but a fantastic gross thirty five saw him be crowned this years gross champion on a total of sixty two to win by five points. Round one gross prize was won by Phil Jones on thirty one points, while second round was won by Christoper Bagge who scored twenty five points. As always this event was played in a great and highly competitive spirit, with all competitors loving the challenge of the course and praising the sponsors Westford University College for their support in the event.
